It’s election night. While the calls and surveys have ended for you if you chose to mail in your ballot this year, commercials are still running on the television, the radio and even on YouTube and Pandora’s music streaming service. Even as voters complete their ballots at the polls today, the commercials continue. The whole nuisance is enough to drive one to drink.
Perhaps watching the myriad debates and reading the interviews of candidates have been exciting (and good for you for being informed). Of course, your information gathering sessions are a done deal at this point, so what to do tonight?
In an article published today, Time suggested turning our democratic spectacle into a drinking game. Waiting for the votes to come in and be counted could give way to a boring night. “If you’re a Republican,” they said, “you should have plenty to celebrate; if you’re a Democrat, the booze may help numb the pain.” In the meantime, however, if there is any political interest at all, the feet may tap the floor in painful anticipation of the results.
Time is not the only magazine to have developed and published a drinking game for election night. Cosmopolitan posted their own set of drinking game suggestions earlier today, as did Porch Drinking and many other sites.
Overwhelmed? Why not invite some friends over and make up a drinking game of your own for Election night. If nothing else, it will make your waiting for the results eventful. Bottoms up!
